A fun, eye-opening learning experience.
I’d never tried "making candy" before. Somehow I thought that was mysterious and awesome and scary and hard. Then one day the bug bit and I jumped in.
The bummer was I used agave nectar instead of corn syrup, which was a mistake because, as I see now, agave burns. So the taste of this mess was peppermint / burnt and inedible. But the process was easy, the consistency came out perfect and playing with it was so much fun! You can cut the goo into soft, stretchy little pieces, and mush them into fun shapes until they cool into glass-hard little candies. Must try again sometime using a sweetener with a higher burn point!
