Blue and white nighttime beauty

Walking in a winter wonderland!
Hasn’t snowed yet but we’ve got some blue and white right here in Olympia.

Washington Smiles!

I took this one in the morning to illustrate the generally icky weather.  The boys play flag football in a soaked and drippy park.

Later on, it looked like it had cleared up enough to walk down to the library without getting wet.

Then, brilliant sunshine!

We have a saying, "Don't like the weather?  Wait five minutes!"

Yay for my new smartphone!  So I can be three miles away from home, down on a park bench, posting in my blog!

I Was Not Driving

And taking pictures, for once.  My passenger took the picture.

Can you believe this beautiful weather, for October? I haven’t even needed a coat lately.

Fire Related Photos

Don't worry, I was behind a stoplight for all three of these!

Not that a little matter like driving has ever stopped me when photos need to be taken; but I did happen to be behind a stoplight for all three of these.

And I was in the passenger seat for this one!  It's the best my poor little cell phone camera could do in the dusk.  It's somebody's pickup truck on fire and the heat was INTENSE.

Nisqually - Where Everybody's a Photographer

Point and shoot, it's gonna be gorgeous.

It is cool to see the bald eagles.  These aren't very good pictures, but just to illustrate that the eagles are right there sitting on trees all over the place.  Once we saw a bunch of them alongside the freeway, like ten or twelve, it actually started to feel like Hitchcock's "The Birds" once we became aware and started counting... I wouldn't want these critters coming after me, but they are pretty to look at!

Phone Pics from Westport and Skechers SRR Resistance Runners

As usual, I had nothing along to record the gorgeousness but my pathetic phone cam.

I bought a pair of Skechers Shape-Ups last year.  I've been using them in the house (in muddy Washington distinction must be made between dedicated-indoor and outdoor shoes) primarily for Walk It Out, and I love them.   The difference between that rocking sole and regular shoes is huge.  They have a natural stretching in the backs of the legs and a pushing-off motion in the rolling forward step.
I'd been reading about the new SRR Resistance Runners, they're like the Shape-Ups only more stable.  Click here to read all the rave:

I ordered a pair from Amazon for $65, but while I was waiting for them to arrive, I found some at Costco for $20.  I had to pay the return shipping to Amazon but it was only $5 so I still came out $35 ahead  :-)

They even leave a pretty spirally footprint which floats my boat.

In my enthusiasm for having outdoor Shape-Ups, I wore them to Westport the first day I had them.

CAVEAT:  they are NOT for climbing on rocks!!
I've climbed on the rocks in everything from flip-flops to snow boots, and I was never so scared as this.  I got back down instantly and watched from the sidewalk like a dedicated old lady.  These shoes have no hollow between toe and heel and they don't bend in the middle at all.  It's the most unnatural feeling on rocks!

Oh, well, they're for walking and jogging  :-)
And they're just wonderful for that.  They were comfortable on day one through a whole day's activities and made my legs feel great.  We eventually got to walk on the path for a while, and it felt so good I just wanted to do it for hours.

I've had to make and collect all new wallpaper for my new monitor!

I LOVE my new monitor-- it's an ASUS from Newegg  that only set me back $100.  The colors are deep and beautiful, not glary at all and shows all the shades of grey down to white.

It's so much nicer than the one I had before, that I'm glad the old one died  :-)
